Obituary for Elizabeth Betty Lepore

October 31, 1942 - October 13, 2021
Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania | Age 78

Loving Sister and Aunt

Elizabeth (Betty) Lepore (nee Ryan) passed away peacefully at Holy Redeemer Hospital on Wednesday October 13, 2021
Betty was born in Philadelphia on October 31,1942 and grew up in the Port Richmond section of the city as the youngest sibling in a large and loving Newfoundland-Irish family. A graduate of Little Flower High School, Betty worked for many years as an office administrator for Soll Eye Associates. During that time, Betty and her beloved husband, Lou Lepore, lived in Philadelphia and later New Jersey. Upon retirement from their respective professions, Betty and Lou moved to Florida where they lived happily among new found friends who were drawn by the couple's engaging and outgoing personalities. The Lepore's Florida home also became a favorite place to visit for their Philadelphia-based families. While in Florida, Betty returned to work as a school aide working with developmentally challenged children. Not surprisingly, Betty quickly became a much liked and greatly respected colleague to her new coworkers, and a source of compassion and trust to her students. In recent years, Betty and Lou returned to the Philadelphia area, most recently settling in Redeemer Village community in Huntingdon Valley, Pa. They missed the many friends that had made during their time in Florida, but Betty and Lou were happy to be able, once again, to share birthdays and holidays with their family and to enjoy excursions to the Jersey Shore.
Although Betty and Lou never had children of their own, they were instant favorites of young people everywhere including their extended family, in their respective professions, and on the athletic field where Lou coached football for many years. Betty was predeceased by Lou, her parents Bernard and Bridget Ryan, and her nine brothers and sisters. But she was surrounded in the final stage of her life by the love and affection of her nieces, nephews, and many friends who will cherish her memory, and who will miss her humor and her caring heart.
Family and friends are invited to Betty's memorial service at 10 AM at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd. Phila., Pa. on Wednesday, October 27th. A one-hour visitation will precede the service and will begin at 9AM. Interment will follow the service at Washington Crossing Cemetery.
If you would like to remember Betty through the example of her compassion and generosity, we invite you to make a donation to the charitable organization of your choice.
